Author Guidelines

Welcome to the Journal of Cambodian Health (JCH), a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to disseminating significant health science and social science research, focusing on Cambodia, Southeast Asia, and the broader Asia Pacific region. We accept various manuscript types, including articles, book reviews, commentaries, and reports. Below are detailed guidelines to assist you in preparing your submission.

Types of Publications

  • Research Article: Original Research articles should be at least 4000 words minimum, excluding references. 
  • Review Article: Review articles should be comprehensive reviews of recent literature in a field of study, with a suggested word count of 4000 minimum words.
  • Book Review: We welcome reviews of recent books relevant to health and social sciences. Reviews should provide a critical evaluation of the book's content, significance, and contribution to the field. Suggested word count: 1,000-1,500 words.
  • Commentary: Commentaries should offer insightful discussions on current health issues, policy debates, or significant advances in the field, ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 words.
  • Report: Reports refer to brief reports or case reports that describe the preliminary results of completed work or a case study reported work or protocol in any interventions. The reports should have 2000 words in minimum.

Formatting Guidelines

Authors should use the Journal of Cambodian Health Microsoft Word template when preparing their manuscript. This will shorten the time for the publication process. The manuscript for submission must be a single Microsoft Word file. All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points of the manuscript, rather than at the end.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors should prepare their manuscripts using the Microsoft Word template of this journal. The parts of manuscript should contain the following information: 

  • Title of manuscript: The title should be concise and descriptive. It should avoid using jargon and abbreviation (where applicable).
  • Author information: First name and last name of the authors should be consistent, and the corresponding author should be marked as an asterisk (*). Affiliations should contain full addresses and countries.
  • Abstracts: All submissions, except book reviews, must include an abstract of no more than 250 words.
  • Keywords: Please provide 4-6 keywords
  • Main text: should contain full descriptions of your manuscript. The main text is written according to the types of paper.  For example: the research article may contain main sections, including the introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion.
  • Page number: You do not need to change the page number during the submission process. The page number will be done by our journal editor in the publication process.
  • Table:  refers to Table 1, Table 2, etc. where it should be located below main texts/paragraphs or in sections that you described. The table caption should be concise and detailed information of the table.
  • Figure: refers to Figure 1, Figure 2, etc., where it should be located below the main texts/paragraphs that you have written.
  • Equation: Authors can write and use equations in Math Type, Equation in Microsoft Word, or normal text, but please do not use them as image files or non-editable files.

Author contributions

Please specify the authors who have contributed to the work of your paper. Please click on the CRediT Taxonomy to check the roles of authors and definitions of each role.

Data availability

Please provide data related to your work where it is not stated in this paper. Otherwise, please provide a statement as “Not applicable” or how your data can be accessed (i.e., Data are available upon the request”, etc.)

Acknowledgement

Authors can acknowledge any supports, including financial, technical, administrative, and other relevant supports regarding the work of your paper.

Conflicts of interest

Authors should declare or provide any conflicts of interest or statements regarding the work of your paper.

Ethical Considerations

Authors may include statements on ethics approval for studies involving humans or animals and declare any potential conflicts of interest.

References

The citation and reference style should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) (7th edition). We encourage authors to use Mendeley Reference Manager or Zotero or other software for managing your references to avoid typing errors or duplicated references.

In text citation, the citation can be narrative or parenthetical, for example, (Kaing et al., 2024) or Kaing et al. 2024.

Referencing should depend on sources as follows:

Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JCH submission system. Ensure the document is anonymized for double-blind review, removing any author identifiers.

Review and Publication Process

Submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review. The review period can vary, but authors will be kept informed throughout the process.

Language and Editing

Manuscripts should be submitted in English. Authors are responsible for ensuring their submission is grammatically correct and clearly written before submission. After the submission, if the manuscript is substantially required to improve the English language, authors are strongly encouraged to seek professional editing services during the revision and proofreading of their manuscript.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is submitted in Microsoft Word template where it can be downloaded in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The submission has been approved by all authors for publication upon the acceptance of the manuscript.
